I made a stereo out of leftover walnut & some fancy computer speakers that had been floating aroudn the office. I like old walnut-cabinet stereos. This sounded great, and then I realized why the speakers had been floating aroudn the office: they overheated & fizzled. If you leave this off for a few days, it'll sound great for 30 minutes or so, then die a rapid death. Sigh. Must build more.
Tastefull subwoofer port on the bottom. The bass was great.
The speakers had touch-sensitive volume buttons, so I tried using aluminum thumbtacks stuck into the frame of the box. Getting them properly alingned was impossible, it was a bad plan. I'd like a heavy, counterweighted volume knob I can give a good spin.
